Adult Programs
ADULT BIBLE STUDY – Monday evenings, Fireside Room, 6:30 p.m.. We have taken on MANY books from the Hebrew scriptures/Old Testament, and the Christian scriptures/New Testament, usually chapter by chapter, and NOT been bored–really! Come and laugh and learn together. Currently we are searching through the Gospel of Mark, along with excursions into archeological findings guided by a study of Eric Cline’s “From Eden to Exile.”
“AT-HOME FELLOWSHIP” MEETINGS – this is one way to “bring the church to you” even if you are able to get to Springfield Lutheran regularly on Sunday mornings or Wednesday evening. Hosted by friendly members of the congregation, we currently have two such gatherings for a study/worship topic. We will be studying Prof. David Lose’s ”Making Sense of Scripture” video/discussion series, accompanied with prayer, holy communion, and refreshments. Call the church office at 541-746-2403 for information. OPEN TO ANYONE who would like a friendly and enriching faith experience. WE WANT TO START TWO MORE such groups in 2011-2012. Here are the current AT-HOME FELLOWSHIPS:
“RIVER SAINTS” AT-HOME FELOWSHIP – Third Thursdays at 2 p.m. hosted by Sue McKinney
“FRINGE BENEFITS” AT-HOME FELLOWSHIP – Fourth Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. hosted by Dick & Marilyn Rickson
MEN’S BREAKFAST meets 8 a.m. on Wednesday mornings (starting Oct. 5) at the Prime Time Sports Bar in Springfield (west from Bi-Mart behind the 76 gas station on Mohawk). Mostly a fellowship time (fishing, hunting, sports, politics, and jokes are frequently served up along with the eggs and bacon!), often with time to solve almost any religious/newsworthy item within a one hour discussion! Amazing!
ADULT INSTRUCTION IN THE CHRISTIAN FAITH will begin in January for folks wanting to refresh the “basics”, and for those new to the faith wanting an in-depth focus that can lead to baptism, re-affirmation of baptism, membership at Springfield–or any combination as the Spirit leads us.
SPRINGFIELD LUTHERAN CHURCH WOMEN – SLCW, for short. We are part of something very big – the women’s organization of the 10,816 Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) congregations. Women of the ELCA have 64 geographical divisions, called synods, nationwide gathered into nine regions. We are in the Oregon Synod in Region 1, which also includes Alaska, Upper and Lower Washington, Idaho, and part of Montana.
When all is said and done, right here where we live is where we are called to make our Christian witness. May the Lord be a light to our paths throughout the coming year, and may His promise of blessing be richly fulfilled.
One does not have to be a member of Springfield Lutheran Church to belong to SLCW. All our churchwomen and others of post-high school age and beyond may be members of this organization. It does not matter if you are active in the day-to-day activities and projects. All women are invited to participate in any one or all of SLCW activities.
For more information, please call the church office at 541-746-2403.
SPRINGFIELD LUTHERAN STITCHERS (all women) - Stitchers make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Meetings are on Tuesdays, 9 a.m., in SLCW Quilting Room in the East Wing. They ship over 100 each year. “Stitchers” welcome donations of materials (no knits) for making quilts, including sheets, any size, but not white.
For more information, please call the church office at 541-746-2403.
WEDDING COMMITTEE – Serving Our Church And Our Community

MONTHLY CIRCLE MEETING TIMES – Rebecca/Ruth Circle, Second Mondays, 1:00 p.m. in a home or at church. This meeting time is changed only when special events make it necessary. In that case, change is noted in the Sunday bulletin or other places the preceding week.
